Using LambdaAssetCheck on a phone

There is no separate mobile product to learn. LambdaAssetCheck is one responsive web app, and on a phone it behaves like an installed app — full screen, on your home screen, and able to keep working when the signal drops.
When we say "mobile app" we mean a Progressive Web App (PWA). It installs from your browser, not from the Apple App Store or Google Play. There is nothing to download from a store, and nothing to update manually.
Install it
Open the app in your phone's browser, sign in, and add it to your home screen. Full steps for iPhone, Android, and desktop are in Install the app on your device.
Installing matters for more than convenience: the installed shell is what lets the app open when you have no connection.
What changes on a small screen
The same pages, laid out for a thumb:
- The sidebar collapses into a menu.
- Lists become cards instead of wide tables — inspections, work items, and assets each show their key fields with the rest a tap away.
- Response controls get bigger touch targets, and the question you're answering fills the screen.
- Camera and location use your phone's native capture.
Nothing is hidden on mobile that exists on desktop, and no feature is mobile-only.
Conduct an inspection in the field
Scan the asset. Go to Inspections → Start New Inspection → Scan QR Code, point at the label, and the app opens that asset. Choose the template and begin. See QR codes.
Or pick from the list. The same page lists assets with filters for site and asset type, plus a search across name, code, and serial. Tap an asset to start.
Then work through the questions. Answers save as you go, so a locked screen or a dropped call doesn't cost you work. Questions marked with \* must be answered before you can submit, and some response options require a photo or a note before they'll accept.

Photos
Tap the camera control on a photo question to use your phone's camera, or choose an existing image. Captured photos can be annotated — draw on the image to circle the crack, the leak, the missing guard — which is often worth more than a paragraph of notes.
Photos attach to the specific answer, and they appear in the report's photo appendix grouped by question.
Work offline
This is the part to get right before you leave.
Prepare the device first
Offline does not switch itself on. Before you lose signal, while you still have a good connection:
- Go to Account.
- Find the offline panel and select Prepare for offline.
That one action does four things: downloads your organization's data to the device, prepares the site and asset packs for the sites you can access, saves the field app shell so the app can open with no network, and then verifies it all worked.
The panel then reports Ready for offline — or tells you what's Missing, so you can fix it before you go.
In the field
When the connection drops, keep working. The app switches to its offline pages automatically and reads from the data on your device. You can:
- Start and conduct inspections
- Work through rounds and their stops
- View and update your tasks
- Report incidents
The screens look and behave the same, because they are the same screens — only the source of the data changes.
Coming back
When you reconnect, the app syncs in the background. Inspections captured offline are marked Offline or Pending Sync in the list until they land, then the badge clears.
If a sync fails, the item shows Sync Failed with the number of attempts and when the last one was — it stays on the device and retries, so nothing is lost.

You can also force a pass with Sync now on the Account page.
Field tips
- Prepare before you travel, not at the gate. Preparing needs a good connection.
- Re-prepare when your sites change. Assets added after you prepared won't be on the device.
- Charge up. Camera, screen, and GPS are what drain a battery on a long round — the app itself is light.
- Don't clear site data for the app in your browser settings while you have unsynced work. That is the one action that discards it.
- Check the badges before you leave site, so you know what still needs to sync.
Frequently asked questions
Where do I download the app?
Nowhere — it installs from the browser. See Install the app on your device. There is no App Store or Play Store listing.
Do I need internet to conduct an inspection?
Not if you ran Prepare for offline beforehand. Without that, the app needs a connection.
Will I lose work if my phone dies mid-inspection?
No. Answers are saved on the device as you enter them. Sign back in and continue.
Can I do everything on mobile that I can on desktop?
Yes, though template building and organization admin are far more comfortable on a large screen.
How do I know an inspection actually reached the server?
Its badge clears. Anything still showing Offline, Pending Sync, or Sync Failed is not on the server yet.
Does the app update itself?
Yes. Because it's served from the web, you get the current version whenever you're online. There's nothing to update from a store.
