Create a site

Learn how to create a site via the web app in LambdaAssetCheck, so your assets, inspections, and work are organised by the location they belong to.

What you'll need

Note: If your organisation syncs sites from an external CMMS, sites are maintained there and synchronised into LambdaAssetCheck. Site management here is view-only.

Create a site

  1. Go to Administration → Users / Groups / Sites and open the Sites tab.
  2. Select Create site.
  3. Enter a Name and a Code. Both are required — for example Trafford Park Plant and TRA-01.
  4. Add the street address, City, and Country if you track them. All three are optional.
  5. Set the Operation time zone. This decides when a scheduled day starts and ends at this location, so set it to local time.
  6. Leave Site is active selected.
  7. Select Save site.

The site appears in the list straight away. Next, assign users to it so they can see its data.

Important: The Code cannot be changed after the site is saved. Everything else stays editable, so pick the code deliberately.

Location hierarchy

A site can be subdivided into named levels — a plant into buildings, floors, and lines, for example.

  1. While creating the site, turn on Use location hierarchy for this site.
  2. Choose Maximum location levels — how deep the structure goes, up to 10.
  3. Select Next: locations.
  4. Select the add button on the Site row to create a Level 1, and name it.
  5. Add a child under each row to go a level deeper, and name each one.
  6. Select Save site.

Every branch must reach the deepest level. Assets can then sit at the site itself or at any node in the tree, and inspection routes can be scoped to a whole site or to one location.

Note: The switch only appears when location hierarchy is turned on for the whole organisation, in Organisation settings. Until then, sites have no levels.

Limitations

  • The site code is permanent. It cannot be edited once saved.
  • Location hierarchy must be enabled organisation-wide first. Until it is, the option does not appear when you create a site.
  • A site cannot be deleted once it is in use. Sites holding assets, assigned users, or inspections are blocked from deletion — mark them inactive instead.

Frequently asked questions

What does the operation time zone actually affect?

It defines the site's local day. Schedules and rounds use it to decide when a due window opens and closes, so a site in a different region is measured against its own clock rather than yours.

Do I have to fill in the address?

No. Street address, city, and country are all optional. Name, code, and time zone are what the product uses.

Can I create many sites at once?

Yes. Use Bulk import on the Sites page to add or update sites from a spreadsheet — see Set up sites.

Someone cannot see the site I just made.

Creating a site does not grant anyone access to it. Site access is a user-to-site assignment, and it combines with each person's role Site data access. Assign the users who work there.
