3. Run your first inspection loop
What are assets?
Learn how assets work in LambdaAssetCheck, so every piece of equipment has a record, a QR code, and a history of inspections, meters, and work raised against it.

Create at least one site and one asset type first (Assets → Asset Types). Every asset needs both. The type decides which published inspection templates apply, and which meters are offered under From Asset Type.
Find an asset
Go to Assets → Manage Assets. The list shows Name, Code, Type, Site, and Status.
Search the table. Sort Name, Code, Type, or Site. Status does not sort. Change Page size at the foot of the list. Open an asset from its Name.
Create an asset
- Select Create Asset.
- Enter Asset name, Asset type, and Site. All three are required. Asset name must be unique in the organisation.
- Add anything else you need, then select Create.

A QR code is generated automatically.

Edit asset details can change Name, Code, Asset type, Site, Location (when the site uses a hierarchy), Status, Criticality, Serial, and Description. Status is Active, Inactive, or Retired. The QR slug stays as it was created.
On Overview, Downtime Consideration uses Consider asset down when linked work order is open and Consider asset down when linked work request is open.
Meters and readings
On Overview:
- Add Meter lists meters From Asset Type first, then Other Meters. Initial Reading is optional.
- Record Reading asks for the meter, Reading Value, Date & Time, and an optional note and photo. The reading is stored as manual. A value outside the meter's range is refused.
Organisation meters are defined under Assets → Meters (owners and admins with assets.create). A meter question on an asset inspection can record a reading too. An audit has no asset, so a meter question there does not.
Print the QR code
View QR Code and Print QR Code sit side by side on the asset.
- Open the asset.
- Select View QR Code to see the code on screen, or Print QR Code to open the print window.
- In that window, select Print QR Code. Cancel closes it.
The printout is the QR image only.

Frequently asked questions
Can I import assets in bulk?
Not yet. Create them one at a time. Sites support bulk import — see Set up sites.
Can I delete an asset?
No. Open Edit asset details and set Status to Inactive or Retired. History stays intact.
Can one asset be in two sites?
No. One site only. If that site uses a location hierarchy, you can pin a Location inside it.
What do the downtime switches do?
While the matching switch is on, the asset counts as down for downtime analytics when a linked work order or work request is open.
