Get started as a field user

Who this is for: Inspectors, technicians, and other field roles. Your administrator must create your account and prepare templates, assets, and sites before you start.

Before you start

Ask your administrator for:

Step 1: Install and sign in

Install LambdaAssetCheck as a PWA if you will use it in the field. Then sign in with the credentials your administrator gave you.

1. Open Install the app on your device and follow the steps for your device.
2. Open your organisation's LambdaAssetCheck URL.
3. Sign in with email/password or SSO — see Log in.

Expected result: You land on Home, and the sidebar shows only the areas your role allows.

Step 2: Find your work

Open Home first. Depending on your role, you may also use:

• Inspections for inspection records.
• Start New Inspection to begin an inspection.
• Tasks for assigned tasks.
• Work Management → Work for work requests or work orders.
• Incidents to report or review incidents.

If you do not see an area you expected, ask your administrator to review your role and site access.

Expected result: You can open at least one of Home, Start New Inspection, Tasks, or Work without an empty or forbidden page.

Step 3: Conduct your first inspection

1. Select Inspections → Start New Inspection.
2. Choose the asset (or site for an audit) your administrator prepared.
3. Work through each question. Answers save as you go.
4. Add notes, photos, signatures, or meter readings when the form requires them.
5. Submit the inspection.

For asset inspections, the published template for that asset's type is used. For site audits, you choose the audit form. Full detail: Conduct an inspection.

Expected result: The inspection appears as Completed in your inspection list, and you can open it to review answers and download the PDF when online.

Step 4: Scan QR codes

Scan QR labels to open the right asset, site, or incident reporting flow without searching.

1. Go to Inspections → Start New Inspection → Scan QR Code, or use the scanner where your role provides it.
2. Point the camera at the label until it recognizes the code.
3. Continue into the inspection or incident flow that opens.

Expected result: Scanning opens the matching asset, site, or incident type — not an "Asset not found" error.

Step 5: Work offline

If you work in low-signal areas, prepare your device before you leave coverage. Offline work syncs when you reconnect.

1. While online, open Account.
2. Select Prepare for offline and wait until the panel shows Ready for offline (or fix anything marked Missing).
3. In the field, keep working. Inspections show sync badges until they reach the server.

Expected result: After prepare, you can open the app and start an inspection with no network. After reconnect, badges clear when sync succeeds.

Step 6: Report an incident

Use Report Incident when something needs to be captured as an incident, near miss, hazard, or safety event.

Open Incidents for types, QR reporting, and the incident log.

Expected result: The incident appears in the incident log for people with access to review it.

You are ready when

• You can sign in and find Home / Start New Inspection / Tasks as expected for your role.
• You have completed at least one inspection end to end.
• You know how to scan a QR label (if your site uses them).
• You know whether you must Prepare for offline before leaving coverage.
• You know how to report an incident if your role includes it.
