What you'll need
| Tier | Professional. Pre-built and custom charts both require it. Advanced can open Analytics. Basic cannot. |
| Platform | Web app |
| Permission | The Create dashboards capability under Analytics. Owner, Administrator, Site Manager, Inspector, Auditor, and Safety Manager have it by default. Viewer has View only. |
| Where | Analytics → Open on a dashboard you created → Add chart. A default dashboard opens on its own. |
Add a pre-built chart
- Select Analytics in the sidebar.
- If a list appears, select Open on a dashboard you created.
- Select Add chart.
- If area buttons appear, select All areas or one area, such as Asset inspections or Audits & flags. A dashboard built for one area lists only that area.
- Select Add to dashboard on the chart you want.
The chart is saved onto that dashboard. Add another, or build one with Add custom chart.
Add a custom chart
- Select Add chart, then Add custom chart.
- Choose a data type. When the dashboard is not limited to one area, the choices include Inspections, Audits, Incidents, Tasks, Schedules, and Assets. A single-area dashboard lists only its own types.
- Choose a Metric. Flag measures are listed on Audits only.
- Under Attribute, choose how to group the chart. Bar, line, pie, and donut charts take up to two attributes. Table takes up to four. Matrix needs two.
- Under Filters, narrow which records are included. Skip this to use the records you can already access.
- Choose a Chart type. Types that do not fit the metric and attributes stay unavailable.
- Select Save Chart. Enter a Chart name, then select Save Chart again.
The chart is placed on the dashboard you have open.
Limitations
- Charts include only the sites you can access. A dashboard shared with you does not reveal other sites.
- Rounds appears as an area and as a data type only when rounds are enabled for the organisation.
- The custom builder has no permits data type. Add a pre-built chart from Control of work, such as Overdue permits.
- Analytics needs a connection. Offline, the page returns you to Home.
Frequently asked questions
I cannot see Add chart.
You need the Professional plan, Create dashboards, and a dashboard you created. View lets you open a shared dashboard without Add chart.
On Advanced, the analytics workspace shows Add chart but leaves it unavailable.
On Basic, Analytics returns you to Home.
Why is a chart type unavailable?
The type does not fit the metric and the attributes you chose. Change one of those, or pick a type that stays available, such as Bar chart or Table.
